Finding the right rulebook

How to check a rulebook’s scope, definitions, amendments and event bulletins.

Start with authority and scope

  • Identify the publisher, jurisdiction, title, language and issue date.
  • Check which disciplines, categories and competition level the document covers.
  • Look for later amendments and event-specific bulletins.
  • Use definitions before interpreting scoring or procedural sections.

Follow references carefully

Read referenced tables, appendices and definitions together with the main provision. If translated material is provided, check which language or version the organizer treats as controlling.

National source example

The 2025 Russian national rules (PDF, Russian) is catalogued here as Russian national material. Its presence in the library does not make it an international WAPAF rulebook.

Resolve uncertainty

Record the document title, date and section behind your question, then use the contact or clarification process published for that event.
